Masks of China presents the ancient tradition of mask-making which is still practiced in China today.
Featuring handmade masks of wood, paper, copper, bronze and fabric, the exhibition highlights the
significance of masks in Chinese culture and history, exploring beliefs, myths and symbols from
Shamanism and Buddhism which reflect China’s many ethnic minority cultures. This collection of
masks and costumes is from the China Museum of the Cultural Palace of Nationalities.
